Female empowerment is on the rise, especially in recent months with the #metoo movement and the Women's March of 2017. Honestly, the march is one of the first time's I had ever seen what a strong unified group can really do. I also attended the march for DACA and it was so moving to have a group of people come together for a common goal. It wasn't just about the students, it was about all of immigration, discrimination, and equality for women. Now more than ever is a time where we should encourage each other to pursue our goals, not become jealous of them. It is a time for women to come together and support each other.
Here are some websites I consistently go to for inspiration on the matter.
1. #girlgaze
Girl Gaze is a zine dedicated "For a woman breaking into the photography industry, the obstacles are unquestionably hard. Our mission is to support girls behind the camera." (girlgaze.tv). Their Instagram is a curated gallery of photography taken by women. They aim to close the gender gap and provide jobs! So amazing! They even have a grant program for emerging female-identifying photographers.

2. girlboss

Girlboss is founded by Sofia Amoruso, CEO and founder of nastygal.com (a really cool clothing line worth checking out as well). Girlboss has amazing articles regarding wellness and beauty but what I find stands out about their site is their articles dedicated to furthering a women's career. They have articles such as networking advice from current successful founders, advice regarding job interviews, and how to deal with co-workers. These are the types of articles that are so valuable in our day to day lives and not just your typical beauty product review (although I am a sucker for those too!). Be sure to check out girlboss.com for daily inspiration!

3. Belletrist

Belletrist is an online book club curated by Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss. I started a few months ago with their suggested book "Abandon Me" by Melissa Febos which was such a relatable and emotional book that made me realize some things in my own life. Highly recommended! If you sign up for their newsletter they will also send you a weekly quote, original interviews, and promos. Apart from books they recommend, they also highlight independent bookstores all over the country. One in which is down the street from my work and I didn't even realize. Thanks Belletrist!

4. Strike Inspo

This is a new one! But definitely worth checking out. Strike Inspo is "an online space dedicated to empowering women and exploring creativity in all of its intricacies." (strikeinpo.com). This site has its focus on creativity and fempower. The site is very well curated and the articles are very unique! Looking forward to what is coming up next for Strike Inspo!

5. Into The Gloss

INTO THE GLOSS is the blog site corresponding to the makeup line "Glossier.", a makeup line dedicated to an emphasis on skincare and made without all the nasty toxins. They believe " 'beauty' should be fun, easy, imperfect, and personal". INTO THE GLOSS is a site they is heavily dedicated to beauty reviews and advice but what I like about it is their interview section. They interview designers, musicians, and authors about their beauty regimen and lifestyle. Super cool and entertaining.
